Meet the Redesigned (and Better Than Ever) 2025 Chevy Equinox
Every year, the Chevy Equinox is touted as a top compact SUV. This is because it is enjoyable to drive, has a lot of interior space, and gets great gas mileage. It’s popular with pretty much everybody, including commuters and families. So, what did Chevy decide to do? Revamp it. Sure, the bones are still there, and all of its great attributes remain, but it definitely looks and feels a little different. Wondering how the Equinox has changed? Here, you will find out what’s different and why you will be eager to head out to Vermilion Chevrolet GMC, your Chevy dealer near Decatur, to check it out.
Striking Exterior Appearance
If you saw two Equinoxes next to each other––a 2024 and 2025––you might not know that they are the same model. First of all, the new Equinox has a redesigned exterior, and from the front, it actually resembles a Silverado. The wheel openings are now a little more squared off, and this adds a rugged look to this SUV. Color plays a big role with the Equinox, and if desired, shoppers can get a contrasting hue for the roof. In addition, each trim level gets its own unique grille. The LT has chrome, the RS is in gloss black, and the ACTIV gets dark chrome.
Spacious and Luxurious Cabin
You’re going to love what you find inside the 2025 Equinox. It now has a 2.5-inch increase in width, enabling passengers to have ample space. The back seat’s floor is flat, and thanks to the generous headroom, even adults won’t mind sitting in the rear row. Cargo space is virtually unchanged, and you will have 29.8 cu.ft. to work with behind the back row and 63.5 cu.ft. when the second row is folded down. Chevy has made improvements to the quality of materials inside the Equinox, and it now looks more modern, with accents of chrome and Piano Black throughout. The dashboard, door panels, and even vents are also a little more dressed up.
Enhanced Comfort
Do you have a long commute every morning? Do you spend lots of time running errands in and around Decatur? Are you craving more comfort and support on your daily drives? If this is the case, you will appreciate how the Equinox will help keep you comfortable. In addition to two roomy rows, this SUV offers supportive and well-cushioned seats that come standard with cloth upholstery, and the ones in the front row have a heating element. Plus, on particularly chilly mornings, you will be able to prevent your hands from freezing with a standard heated steering wheel. Several amenities can be added to make every ride even more enjoyable, including Evotex upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and memory settings for the driver’s seat. Plus, the Activ trim comes with microfiber seat trim.
Brand-New Tech Goodies
Chevy has always tried to be at the forefront when it comes to technology, and this is another area in which the Equinox has been improved. First of all, the seven-inch infotainment system touchscreen has been replaced with a screen that measures in at an impressive 11.3 inches. The system is a cinch to use, responds quickly to inputs, and has crisp graphics. It also comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Plus, because it’s a Google-based system, it makes it easy to integrate information, like navigation, from your smartphone. An 11-inch configurable instrument display is standard as well, as are front and rear USB ports, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and a six-speaker stereo. Upper trims can come with wireless device charging, a universal garage door opener, and an AutoSense hands-free power liftgate.
Same Great Power
An area that hasn’t been altered much with the new Equinox is what’s under the hood. Here, Chevy seems to take an “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” approach. You will find a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175 hp. There has been a change, however, when it comes to torque. If you opt for standard front-wheel drive, the engine generates 184 lb-ft of torque. Going with all-wheel drive increases that to 203. And while previous models come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2025 Equinox has a continuously variable transmission. If a CVT isn’t to your liking, you can swap that out for an eight-speed automatic.
Even Better Performance
No matter how you plan to use your Equinox, you are going to have fun behind the wheel. This SUV handles beautifully, and it provides nice sportiness. Its true calling card, however, is ride quality. This vehicle is built to offer a silky-smooth ride even when roads are bumpy. It has a four-link independent suspension composed of coil springs, MacPherson struts, and a direct-acting stabilizer bar. And if your excursions may take you off of the asphalt, the ACTIV trim is a capable light off-roader. Its 17-inch wheels have all-terrain tires, and if you opt for all-wheel drive, it includes an Off-Road driving mode that ensures better traction and stability on rugged and uneven land. Need something else to love about the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox? It has fantastic fuel economy. With front-wheel drive, it offers an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. If you opt for all-wheel drive instead, you will get 24 MPG in the city and up to 29 MPG on the highway.
Enhanced Safety Features
Yet another way in which the Equinox has gotten better has to do with safety. While the 2024 model is certainly well-equipped in this area, several available features are now standard with the 2025 Equinox, including:
- Side Blind Zone Alert: If you often drive on the highway or roads with multiple lanes, you will appreciate this system. Via lights on your outside mirrors, you will be alerted to any vehicles in your blind spots so you will know whether or not it is safe to change lanes.
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking: Going in reverse––especially out of a tight parking spot with cars on both sides––can be a little scary. Thanks to this feature, however, you will get a warning if any vehicles approach from either side and if you can proceed.
- Adaptive Cruise Control: Constantly setting and resetting speed in cruise control is now a thing of the past. Your Equinox will automatically slow down if the car in front does, and if that vehicle speeds up, you will also go back up to the speed you set.
- Safety Alert Seat: If your vehicle detects a possible hazard, motors in the cushions of the driver’s seat will vibrate to make you aware.
